Frequently asked questions

What is the Kidincare MCP server?

It is a free, public Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude search Kidincare's directory of licensed childcare centers, daycares and preschools across the United States, and link you to each center's page.

What is MCP (Model Context Protocol)?

MCP is an open standard that lets AI assistants use tools and data from other services. Adding an MCP server to your assistant gives it new abilities; adding Kidincare's server lets it look up real childcare centers instead of guessing.

Is the Kidincare MCP server free?

Yes. It is free to use and needs no account, sign-in or API key. Requests are rate limited to keep the service fast for everyone.

Which AI assistants work with it?

Any assistant or app that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP, including Claude, ChatGPT (with developer mode), Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code.

What information can the AI assistant see?

Only public directory information that is already on kidincare.com: center names, addresses, phone numbers, hours, ages served, capacity, license numbers and published guides. The server is read-only and cannot change any data.

What is the server URL?

The Kidincare MCP server URL is https://admin.kidincare.com/mcp.

Developers: the server also publishes a server card, and a plain-text summary of the site is in llms.txt.
